There are seasons that do not resolve quickly, when the hard thing is still hard and no amount of waiting has changed it yet. This prayer is for those seasons. It helps you bring what you are carrying to Jesus honestly, name it before Him, and stand in the peace and authority He has already given you, even while the season itself has not lifted yet.
Pray it whenever the weight returns, as many times as you need it. Let it remind you that His nearness was never dependent on the season changing first.
Prayer for a Hard Season
Jesus, I come to You in the middle of a difficult season.
You already know what this has cost me. You know the nights it has kept me awake and the mornings it has been the first thing on my mind. I am not hiding any of it from You, and I do not have to.
I bring You everything I am carrying right now. The weight I can name and the weight I cannot explain yet.
I name it before You now… (pause and name it)
I place this season fully under Your authority. I have tried to manage it, push through it, and outlast it on my own strength, and I do not have enough of that left. So I hand it to You, Jesus. Every part of it.
The Psalmist said, “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18, NLT)
I claim that. And thank You that You are not far from me in this. You are close, right here, in the exact middle of what feels unfinished.
I break any agreement I have made with despair, hopelessness, and every lie that says this season will define me.
I renounce the voice that tells me I am alone in this, or that I have been forgotten, or that this is simply how my life is now. None of that is true, and I will not agree with it any longer.
Holy Spirit, fill me again. Fill my mind with peace instead of dread. Fill my heart with hope instead of despair. Fill my body with strength for today, not the whole season at once. Fill my days with Your presence, even the ordinary and unremarkable ones.
I receive Your promise instead:
“Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10, NLT)
So Jesus, I stand on that today, in the middle of a season that has not changed yet, because You have not changed, and You are still holding me through it.
You are my strength when mine runs out. You are my peace when nothing around me is peaceful. You are my help when I do not know what else to do. You are with me, and You are not going anywhere.
In Your strong and beautiful name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
